Why do we still develop software

Anyone dealing with information technology today reads and hears the same buzzwords again and again: Digital Transformation, Cognitive Computing, Internet of Things, Cloud Computing, Predictive Analytics and Industry 4.0.

That we live in a time of great upheaval now seems to have arrived with everyone and is no longer doubted about itself. And also the realization that one has to act, as an individual and as a company, in order not to fall by the wayside in this upheaval, has found its way into people's minds. Rarely has the phrase "He who does not move with the times, moves with the times" been so apt. And then you look around and see self-regulating heaters and independently ordering refrigerators, you hear about autonomous cars and talk to Google or Alexa.

Did we already reached the point of singularity?

In addition, there are also these terms which, although in everyone's mouth, are so difficult to understand that they acquire metaphysical features: Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. One could assume that we have already reached the point of singularity and that the software programs have long been able to surpass their creators, us humans, and develop more efficient and smarter solutions. If machines are really already so good, why should we continue to work on the development of software programs? The answer is reassuring and sobering at the same time: We have not missed the point of singularity and the machines are not as far developed as some would have you believe.

That does not mean, however, that we are not yet in a position to do great things on the basis of software. This black and white thinking, so symptomatic of the discussion about the current digital development status of our society and oscillating between the two extremes of singularity and the digital Stone Age, is responsible for the immense uncertainty that drives private individuals and companies. If you don't know where you stand and where you stand, how should you know how to act now?

We know where the technology stands today and we can also estimate very well where it will develop in the coming years. This core competence enables us to share this knowledge and accompany companies on their way through the digital now into an even more digitized future.

That's why we still develop software: We know the needs of our customers and we have gained our know-how through decades of experience; our services have grown in the wise minds of our employees. We specialize in the needs of companies to help those who can benefit most from digital change. Our products are ideally adapted to this and they are among the innovative spearheads that make the most of today's technical possibilities and are ready to take on the future.
